번식방법

실생 및 삽목으로 번식한다.
①실생 : ⓐ9월에 채취한 종자를 노천매장 하였다가 이듬해 봄에 파종한다.
ⓑ종자는 이중휴면성이 있어 그 다음해 봄까지 노천매장 상태로 두어야 하므로 자칫하면 종자가 지중 매장구에서 발아되어 마치 콩나물처럼 자라 파종을 낭패시키기 쉬우므로 주의해야 한다.
ⓒ순량율 95%, ℓ당 입수 11,383립, 발아율 28% 이다.
②2-3월, 6-7월, 9월에 가지삽목을 하기도 한다.

Trees deciduous, up to ca. 20m tall. Stem bark grayish brown, smooth but longitudinally fissured in old; branchlets glabrous or pubescent, green or reddish; winter buds ovoid-oblong, glabrous; scales imbricate. Leaves simple, alternate; blade entire or wavy at margin, broadly ovate or elliptic-ovate, 5.1~16.4 × 3~10.4cm, abruptly acuminate at apex, rounded at base; adaxial surface green, appressed pubescent when young, later glabrous; abaxial surface glau-cous, appressed pubescent; petiole 1.1~10.4cm long, glabrous, reddish; lateral veins 4~10 pairs, raised abaxially.
